"It's a Boy!!!"

Three words said to me at 19 minutes past 6am, fifteen years ago. I was told that I'd NEVER have children & he's the oldest of three. Started out a little spaghetti noodle - 6 pounds 10 ounces, 19.5" long...now he's 160 pounds and just a little shorter than my 5'10" - he can bench press over 100 pounds & can RUN. Man, can the kid run! Biker Boy & I keep telling him he should go out for Track & Field, but he's happy drawing graffiti on books and skateboarding. *LOL*

Because he loves graffiti and skateboarding so much, I made this card for him this morning. Upper left corner is a sticker, the rest of the writing on the wall is all mine...took some crash courses online today on tagging! *ROFL*
I've got those vintage Christmas cards to share with you still but I'm afraid three posts from me in one day might throw ya into shock, so I'll put them up tomorrow morning, first thing. Thanks for stopping by & have a great rest of your day!!

Blue & Brown challenge entry

Today's Stampin' for the Weekend challenge is "blue and brown" - how CONVENIENT because I just made this card last night & had NO IDEA that it would work so perfectly! *LOL* I used papers from Prima & My Mind's Eye, the largest Nestie from Labels 2, the tree out of my TAC set "Joy of Christmas" stamped in Memento rich cocoa, and some pearl Dew Drops colored with COPIC E49.

It could also have been this Sunday's Keepin' It Simple post, but the timing is right...I feel lucky! Maybe it has something to do with the fact that today is my oldest son's birthday.

Happy Birthday, Cordell! I'll be back later today with some more cards to share. Thanks for stopping by & have a great rest of your day!!

Those vintage bits n bobs...

Remember? The ones at the end of my post yesterday? Well, I wanted some vintage Christmas pieces to mail out & I wanted them fairly simple, so as not to detract from the old artwork, which I adore. I made SIXTEEN last night. On top of the four I made yesterday, that puts me at my personal best of twenty cards made in one day!

This is going to be long just with the photos, so I'll keep it short n sweet for ya: most of these are on A2 bases; I've used paper doilies (some coffee-stained), a Sakura stardust clear gel pen, a Sakura clear Glaze pen, some cardstock pieces that have been through the Cuttlebug, and free images snagged from various sites around the internet. I antiqued everything with a makeup sponge and Ranger's vintage photo distress ink.

Now, without any further delay, I'll leave you to see what I've come up with (remember if you want a closer look at each card, just right click the image & select "open in a new window or tab")...
So...which one was YOUR favorite? I'd have a hard time choosing, because I really enjoyed putting these together. Come back tomorrow & I'll have the fifteen that I'm working on today all finished up for your viewing pleasure.

Thanks for stopping by & have a great rest of your day!!

Two more for ya!

I was playing with some different ideas today...they came out better than I expected, so I'm sharing! *LOL* All the stamps on these two cards are from TAC's "Joy of Christmas."

For this first one, I used a grungy blue spotted paper from My Mind's Eye, layered on some white cardstock embossed in my Cuttlebug (Christmas ornaments), then a piece of faded red designer paper from Prima, stamped in white & cut out with my Nesties label (largest). I love that "retro" feel this one has.

This one makes me think of hot cocoa, marshmallows, & clear winter skies. I used a chocolate paper from My Mind's Eye, a piece of kraft cardstock embossed with my Cuttlebug snowdots folder. I stamped with Memento rich cocoa onto some blue designer paper from Prima & antiqued around the edges after cutting it with my Nestie (large, Labels1). The ribbon is a pretty cream with a very subtle pattern woven in...just a touch of elegance for this one! *LOL*

Now...any ideas about what these are for?Check back toward the weekend & find out! Thanks for stopping by & have a great rest of your day!!

Two cards to share today

Hi! Sorry I missed y'all yesterday - turned out to be an extremely busy day & I didn't get to sit down here until late. I was so tired by then, I barely managed to get through checking my e-mails, so I put my blog post off until today. I've got two cards to share with you - I've made more, but I didn't want to bore you showing the same or similar cards over and over. Figured I'd just take the primary ideas & share those.

This first one is on a 5x7 pre-made base, with some blue/green Prima background paper, a white cotton lace, some baby blue Stickles on the eyelet portion of the lace (it looked like snowflakes to me). The image is from last month's TAC Vintage set, "Fall & Winter Whimsy," and I colored her with my COPIC markers. I drew in the horizon line to ground her a bit, then chalked the ground & the sky. I also used my buttermilk SPICA & accented the lights on the tree & the flower centers. Here she is up close...
And this one below uses two TAC sets..."Good Timber" for the pine branches, stamped in cottage ivy ink, and "Joy of Christmas." I used gold & copper Brilliance inks by Tsukeniko for the sentiment and "ornaments," hand drew the hangers & left it as simple as I possibly could. I'm not totally happy with it...but it doesn't suck rocks either! *LOL*
I'll have some more card ideas for you tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by & have a great rest of your day!!

K.I.S.S.

I'm a tad under the weather today, so I'll keep it short n sweet & just show you two ideas that I had for Keepin It Simple for Christmas...This one is done on an A2 card base, cottage ivy Memento ink by Tsukeniko, two red buttons, & some Christmas red Stickles. The sentiment & holly leaves are from a purchase with purchase stamp set from The Angel Company called Holly Jolly.

This one is an A2 card base, embossed with the Cuttlebug folder "winter house," and stamped in tuxedo black Memento ink with a sentiment from TAC's set "Vintage Santa."

I'm working on some more cards tonight as I sit in the living room with Chris and the boys...I'll show those to you tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by & have a great rest of your day!!

No new cards yet?!? But you SAID.....

*sigh* I know...I KNOW. I'm not happy with myself right now...in fact, I'm kicking myself in the tail mentally so you won't HAVE to! I'm weak, I admit it. And I will have some cards for you. Soon. Very soon. It's just that my plans were slightly altered on Monday the 2nd, when Chris came home from work with a sack in his hands. "Kaylene said to keep an open mind & just READ them," then tossed the sack into my lap. I didn't PLAN to read them, in fact I hadn't really WANTED to, but I was curious about the worldwide furor over these books. So I cracked the cover toward the end of "House" and began to read.

By Tuesday, lunchtime, I'd finished:It was okay. A little slow for my taste till it hit Chapter 10. After that, it wasn't so bad. On Tuesday evening I started the next one & was finished by Wednesday lunch:Better. It still dragged (for me - don't throw anything at me, unless it's covered in chocolate!) till around Chapter 10, but I enjoyed her writing style, mostly in first person, so I continued with the story.

By supper last night, I finished book three. YES, I have been doing the laundry, making beds, running the boys to/from school, and making an occasional card, ALL while reading these books. This one was REALLY good!
Now, here it is, FRIDAY the 5th, the first Friday of December & I'm into 'book two' of the final book (it's three mini-books rolled into one large one). By the beginning of 'book two,' I was crying. I'm not going to spoil it for anyone not yet reading this one, I'll just say, "It's BELLA" & leave it at that! You'll know what I mean when you get there! *LOL*
Most likely I'll be finished with this by late tonight or maybe tomorrow afternoon (it IS about 57 chapters altogether AND it is only about 20° outside, making me feel less inclined to leave my cozy spot on the couch) & then I'll have some cards to share with you. PROMISE!

Thanks for stopping by & have a great rest of your day!!
