I'll allow "pinning" as long as you pull up the post & pin from it for a direct link for others. :-)

K.I.S.S.

The K.I.S.S. spotlight today is on pretty papers. Sometimes we tend to do too much with a card & there are just so many papers out there today that can stand on their own. I wanted to make the most of some of my GORGEOUS papers from My Mind's Eye - I just adore the vintage, grungy, OLD feel of them, so I kept embellishments to a minimum.

For this first one, I used a lovely soft teal with one of my sheet music rumpled flowers.

This one is a soft aqua & the dotted band was punched using the 1" wide MS doily lace punch.

And these are the tags that I made to replace the white ones in the prayer journal I shared earlier.I'm off to hang out with my guys and watch Sandra Bullock in "The Blind Side." Thanks for stopping by & have a great rest of your day!!

Prayer/Gratitude Journal

Riddle: What happens when you take a 10¢ composition book, some clearance scrap paper from Hobby Lobby, a blank tag, Ranger Distress Inks, a piece of felt diecut ribbon, some rhinestone swirls, some floral trim from JoAnn's, Prima flowers, half pearls, tan cardstock, papers from My Mind's Eye, crocheted lace, velvet ribbon, & a metal closure from Basic Grey?

Answer: You go from THIS serviceable, but yawn-worthy composition book...
To the most amazing prayer/gratitude journal this little noggin could conjure up! (right click the pics to open larger in another window for better viewing)
I started on this Friday evening & finished it yesterday afternoon. I'm REALLY pleased with how it turned out. The paper on the cover is 8.5"x11" & I got it for 17¢ a sheet at Hobby Lobby last week on clearance - first thing I thought of when I saw it was this book! It was already pretty grungy, but I had to do more with my Ranger Distress colors (faded jeans, vintage photo, walnut stain). I used the crocheted lace & velvet ribbon down the front edge for some visual interest, rhinestone swirls in the upper right & lower left corners, some black Prima flowers & put half pearls in the centers.
I used some tan cardstock inside, distressed with the same inks as the outside, then I made a pocket for little notecards (I'll be changing those white cards to tan with some trims later on). I also have a very OLD bookmark that I copied over to the inside of the journal.
I randomly went inside the book & chose a spot to make a small "divider." I took one page & covered both sides with coordinating papers from My Mind's Eye. The book mark is glued to the inside of the back cover - love those little black daisies!
Then I picked another spot & repeated the coordinating paper step.
Twice.
Here's a close-up of the tag on the front cover. It started out white, but after playing with my Ranger Distress Inks (same colors I used on the papers), I ended up with this. The first verse of Psalm 5 worked PERFECTLY with this book!

Hope you enjoy this little departure from card making as much as I did! I'll be back in a while with today's Keepin' It Simple Sunday post.

K.I.S.S.

Thought today I'd make a "thank you" card. I used a white A2 card blank, a 1" wide strip of TAC paper (Tuscany Spice Designer Collection), my doily edge punch from MS, 2 shades of ink that were in the same color family as the Tuscany Spice paper strip, two of the smaller flowers from "Petal Pack"by The Angel Company, an oval punch, & the "thank you" from TAC's "Ordinary Greetings."

Time to make this card: less than 20 minutes! Thanks for stopping by & have a great rest of your day!!

Makin Up For Lost Time...

Wow! What a crazy week! Every time I thought I would be able to get on here to post something, I got busy. By Friday, I was so drained, I didn't do anything but take the boys to/from school & veg at the house. Today has been much easier to handle, so I sat down with my Playlist & did some creating. The images were printed yesterday afternoon - coloring book pages reduced to stamp size, 4 to a page, cut out with Nesties - then colored last night while hanging out with the boys in front of the television.

You may recognize this first image from old Precious Moments coloring books. I colored her with colored pencils, used OMS on the ground & sky, then inked the edges with Ranger Distress Faded Jeans. Flowers are from Prima & centers are Ranger Liquid Pearls.

The background paper is from the English Garden collection by Making Memories. She was so sweet & easy to color!
Another image from Precious Moments that I colored with my pencils. I pondered putting a sentiment with it, but haven't decided if I want to use it as a "new baby" card for twins or for an anniversary card (I could write "wrapped up in you!"). Background paper is from a pack I purchased a couple of years ago (not sure of the manufacturer).
I actually LIKED the oranges on this & thought the colors really worked out well together...
And finally, a darling image from Sarah Kay, colored with pencils. I used OMS on the ground & sky, but nothing else...I just shaded & layered the colors. The background paper is from a pack I got at Wal-Mart ages ago & the stock for the Nesties layers is from DCWV Spring Mat Stack. I also used some half pearls, Prima flowers, Ranger Liquid Pearls, & leaves punched with my MS punches.
She's so bright & cheery...you can almost smell the flowers!
That's it for me today! I have some more that I printed (I always print my digi images off 10-20 at a time so I can color them as I feel the urge), so I'm gonna grab my pencils and go play.

Thanks for stopping by & have a great rest of your day!!

*sigh* Missed K.I.S.S.

But I have a good excuse...today is Middle Child's birthday. I've spent all day here at the house with him, cooking his favorite one-dish dinner and watching movies. I'll post my KISS project on Monday.

Thanks for stopping by!
